The homeowner of this property in San Francisco (originally built in 1941) was well aware that his foundation was due for repair. This 4-story, wood-framed, single-family home had a foundation that consisted of a traditional concrete stem wall resting on a continuous concrete footing at the perimeter with slab-on-grade at the interior. Thankfully, most of the foundation was in good enough shape to label the home as structurally sound, but certain areas of it were in such disrepair that if left alone it would start to cause serious problems. While our Push Piers, our bread-and-butter product, are amazing at stabilizing and lifting foundations that have sunk, they were not the right solution for this foundation. Some foundations are in such bad shape that the best option of remediation is to just replace it. And that was the solution that the homeowner agreed to. A total of 12 ft. of foundation replacement was done. The old, cracked concrete of the foundation was chipped out and a new 2500 PSI concrete foundation was poured in it's place.
