A Vulnerable Foundation
The way that most homes were constructed, due to the California Building Code of their birth year, didn't include any prescriptions for how to better retrofit homes against earthquakes.
Earthquake Retrofit
Here you see Simpson Strong-Tie URFP10s along with plywood sheathing installed to work as a team to protect this home.
Ready For A Close Up
The Simpson URFP10. The top part of it is screwed into the mudsill that sits atop the concrete foundation. The bottom part is bolted into the concrete foundation. These connections make the home much stronger to defend against earthquakes.
