Mr. B called us and told us that he wanted to repair his home because he is a perfectionist. The state of his home was less than what he wanted so he wanted us to help him begin to get things in order. There were other projects he was eager to start, but the foundation needed to be in good shape before he could focus on any other part of the house, e.g. if he were to have fixed his roof before the foundation, and the foundation continued to get worse, the roof would have eventually needed to be fixed again.
The foundation was experiencing differential settlement--parts of it had settled lower than the rest of the home, causing the floors to be uneven. Part of the slab-on-grade foundation was cracking. Our solution was to install 10 push piers at the problem areas to lift and stabilize those areas from further settlement. After the lift was achieved, we inject Polyurethane Foam to fill the void that was caused by the lift.

Dave wanted to remodel his kitchen but, before he could, he knew that there was something wrong with the floor beneath the kitchen because it was obviously uneven. He called us out to investigate to see what the problem was. The floor of the home was built with a truss system beneath it. A truss system is usually fine, but in the case of this home, the lack of support posts connected directly to the ground let the floor dip towards the center.
To fix the issue, we installed a new girder that extended from one end of the foundation to the other. We also installed 9 wood posts with new footings to support the new girder. The idea was to install the girder directly beneath the middle of the floor, perpendicular to the existing truss system in order to lift and stabilize the floor. With the new girder system, Dave can remodel his kitchen without any fear of the floor affecting it adversely.
