Built-in 1912, this 50-room apartment building was due for some restoration. Within the center of the building is a courtyard with a decorative fountain at the center. In 1917, the courtyard and adjacent balcony were used for a few scenes of the movie titled Mothers of Men. 

When we were called to take a look at the Jobsite, it was clear that the courtyard needed new life especially since the building had been designated for Senior-Living; the unleveled courtyard was a safety hazard for the building's elderly residents. One trip could equal a broken hip or worse. 

Our concrete crew worked diligently to bring the courtyard back to its Hollywood days. And even though the building may never see Hollywood fame again, it's a pleasant place to look skywards to the stars. 

This home, built-in 1958, was experiencing some settlement issues that were causing part of the foundation to sink. We installed our push pier system, lifted the foundation, and stabilized it to prevent future settlement from damaging the home. 

This home was going through a remodel. Upon a crawl space inspection, it was determined that the floor support system was in need of some major work. The homeowner contracted with us to replace the entire floor system with our SmartJack Adjustable Post System. As you can see in the photos, the original wood posts were removed and our SmartJack System was put in their place. 

The homeowner had called us requesting help regarding removing stormwater from his crawl space that accumulated heavily during the rainy season. The solution he chose was to have us install our "SmartSump" Sump Pump along with a drain pipe installed near the stormwater entry points to collect water and divert it away from the home because stormwater belongs anywhere but the inside of a home. 

The sump pump was installed within the exposed earth, with the lid level to the top of the soil. The drain pipe was installed along the perimeter, beneath the soil, and surrounded by a crushed rock to help with water collection. When the water is sucked into the sump pump, it is discharged through a pipe that carries the water through an existing vent within the crawl space and out to a designated drainage area; in this case, it was connected to an existing downspout that drains water to the street.

Mrs. D was ready to remodel her bathroom. She called a general contractor out to her home to give her a quote. When the general contractor investigated what needed to be done, he determined that the bathroom floor was uneven. He recommended that Mrs. D hire another company to bring the floors back to level before remodeling the bathroom because if the floors continued to shift, all the work that went into the remodel would be pointless as the uneven floors could ruin it over time. 

She called us to provide a quote for a solution for her uneven floors. Our salesman, Steve Heaton, investigated the subfloor and came up with the solution of installing SmartJack Adjustable Steel Posts to support the existing floor framing. 

Our crew installed 4 SmartJack Adjustable Steel Posts and 1 10 ft. long Steel Square Beam to lift and stabilize Mrs. D's bathroom floor. Now she has peace of mind knowing that her future remodeled bathroom will not suffer from sagging floors. 

Imagine trying to sell your home and the potential buyers are walking through the hallways, checking out every room to see what potential the building has for their future. But then they try to open the door that leads to the exterior deck but the door gives them a hard time and they struggle to get it to budge--that's not a good look. 

A difficult door may seem like a trivial thing but imagine how much more difficult that door is for the elderly and the disabled. The health of a home is very much connected to the health of those living in the home. If something isn't functioning properly, like a door, then the health of those living in the home could be compromised. 

Mr. M had a deck door that was having this issue and the cause of it was the lack of support in the underfloor area. Having been built in 1978, surely the cause of the uneven deck was the amount of time that the soils beneath the home had to shift, especially with how close the home is to the ocean (La Selva Beach. We were able to help Mr. M by installing our SmartJack Adjustable Steel Post System to lift and level the deck. Now he can live without the headache of a hard-to-open door.
